About

My name is Giles Pitman. I am a Bristol based freelance camera operator who has a broad skill set in editorial, technical and post-production.

I have just concluded a contract with Plimsoll Productions and I am currently working for Frank Films and Wall to Wall productions.

I pride myself on my can-do attitude, hunger to deliver high quality work and skills within editorial as well as the ability to shoot.

I have most recently been shooting for a blue-chip BBC commission called Secret Garden (2026) – specialising in night-shooting/long lensing foxes.

I also have a wide knowledge of the kit department and have been shooting for one of Plimsoll’s blue-chips. I have also spent the last 6 months at Plimsoll as a Technical Assistant, assisting edits in AVID and helping with troubleshooting so my skills are broad.

Current Project:

ZUBR – a rewilding short film on European bison in the UK

After 21 months of tireless work, 2 international shoots and collaborating with over 50 creatives, my 28 minute documentary ‘Żubr’ is complete. It is an exhibition and celebration of a passionate man with a dream to connect with nature and overall conservation efforts in the natural world.

I developed the documentary from a concept, researched a history heavy and natural history subject, organising international shoots, working closely with a principle contributor as well as under-age contributors too. I found a passion for dealing with logistical challenges and speaking to scientistic and fixers to make production run smoothly. I plan on getting it screened in Bristol and distributed to a global film festival run.

Synopsis:

Don, a bison ranger, embarks on a journey to the Białowieża Forest in Poland, where he uncovers how these gentle giants are transforming ecosystems. Armed with these insights, he returns to the UK with a new appreciation of what it means to live alongside megafauna, furthering his work to restore nature and reconnect the next generation through his work with Wildwood Trust.

This documentary has been supported by Wildwood Trust, Sennheiser, Films@59 and Plimsoll Productions which has taken the final film to the next level.
